Wolves have signed defender Jackson Tchatchoua from Verona on a five-year deal.

The Cameroon international becomes Wolves’ fifth signing of the transfer window, with the right-back arriving in the wake of Saturday’s season-opening 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

Tchatchoua can also operate as a wing-back and has played on both flanks, scoring twice and providing three assists last season in Serie A as he played 36 league games for Verona.

He is Wolves’ second defensive signing of the window, following left-back David Moller Wolfe in moving to Molineux.

    Wolves Strand-Larsen linked to Newcastle

Wolves’ biggest move to this point has been to make the loan signing of striker Jorgen Strand-Larsen from Celta Vigo a permanent one, taking up the option on July 1.

But there is talk he could potentially depart the club before the end of the window, with Newcastle United reported by The Athletic to retain a firm interest in the Norway international.

Newcastle are said to have started talks via intermediaries for the 25-year-old, who scored 14 goals for Wolves last season, playing an instrumental role in ensuring their Premier League survival.

The chance to play Champions League football for Newcastle, who are thought to want two strikers before they would consider selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, would surely appeal to Strand-Larsen, who is reported to be keen on the transfer.

However, having already lost another talisman in Matheus Cunha this summer, Wolves are unlikely to be willing to allow Strand-Larsen to move to St James’ Park.

Wolves visit Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
