Eberechi Eze was conspicuous by his absence from the pictures that accompanied by the launch of Crystal Palace’s third kit, with reports claiming Tottenham are closing in on a deal for the winger.
Eze featured for Palace in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea and had a goal controversially disallowed after informing the club of his desire to join Spurs.
Palace launched their ‘Eagle White’ kit on Tuesday, but Eze was not among the players modelling the jersey on images accompanying the release, with multiple reports suggesting Tottenham have reached an agreement in principle over a deal for the England international.
The exact details of the fee are not yet known, but Tottenham are understood to have submitted a bid worth £55million plus £5m in add-ons on Monday.
Also not pictured in the kit launch was Palace captain Marc Guehi.
Guehi is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool. Palace co-owner and chairman Steve Parish has conceded the club will likely have to sell their skipper, who could sign a pre-contract agreement in January to leave for free at the end of the season.
Newcastle United had three bids for Guehi turned down last year, while Palace also rejected a £70million bid from Tottenham in January.
Eze set for Spurs
Eze has made a huge impact during his time with Palace, helping the South London club to an historic triumph in the 2024-25 campaign.
Indeed, four of Eze’s 15 goals last season came as he helped Palace reach the FA Cup final, in which they made history by beating Manchester City to win their first major trophy. They added the Community Shield to the trophy cabinet this month, Eze involved as the Eagles overcame Liverpool on penalties.
Eze racked up 26 goal involvements in all competitions last season, with that kind of output obviously of huge appeal to a Tottenham side that lost a key creative influence in pre-season when James Maddison suffered an ACL injury that could keep him out for the entire season.
Tottenham opened their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win over newly promoted Burnley on Saturday. If signed before the weekend, Eze could make his debut when Spurs visit Manchester City this weekend in a mouthwatering clash.
Palace face Fredrikstad in their Conference League playoff-round tie on Thursday.
