Commanders sign Terry McLaurin to three-year extension
The Washington Commanders have signed All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin to a three-year contract extension worth up to $96 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A source who spoke to ESPN’s John Keim said the deal includes a $30 million signing bonus.
Terry McLaurin had been staging a hold-in to get a contract extension. He also previously requested a trade on July 31st, but that was never something the Commanders were considering.
McLaurin is coming off arguably the best season of his career. In 17 games last year, he caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 touchdowns. During the 2025 NFL Playoffs, he recorded 14 receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns in three games.
More money for Trey Hendrickson
All-Pro pass rusher Trey Hendrickson ended his hold-in today after the Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a restructured deal that will see his salary increase to $30 million for the upcoming season, according to sources who spoke to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The new deal also features a $1 million incentive that will be paid out if Hendrickson plays 60% of the team’s defensive snaps and the Bengals make the playoffs.
Even with the restructured contract, Hendrickson is still scheduled to become a free agent next off-season.
A trifecta of trades for Philly
The Philadelphia Eagles completed three trades yesterday and today as the team looks to solidify its roster ahead of the 53-man cutdown deadline scheduled for tomorrow.
On Sunday, the Eagles announced that they had traded a 2026 fifth-round draft pick and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for quarterback Sam Howell and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.
Earlier today, the team said that it had finalized two other trades. First, Philly traded a 2026 seventh-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for offensive tackle Fred Johnson. Also, Philly sent offensive lineman Darian Kinnard to the Green Bay Packers for a 2027 sixth-round draft pick.
Jakobi Meyers requests a trade out of Vegas
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade as contract negotiations with the franchise have tappered out, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Meyers is coming off his best NFL season, where he set career highs in receptions (87) and receiving yards (1,027).
Micah Parsons misses a part of practice
Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl pass rusher Micah Parsons was noticeably absent from the open portion of the team’s practice that was held earlier today. This comes after Parsons was apparently seen napping during the Cowboys’ preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons.
In response to the allegations that he was napping, Parsons took to social media to defend himself. He wrote, “The way media shapes perception and narratives is wild – and if he hadn’t said anything, everyone would’ve just run with it. I’d never disrespect the guys out there fighting for their lives.”
Cam Akers released by New Orleans
The New Orleans Saints announced that former Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers was one of 14 players the team released earlier today. In June, Akers was signed to a one-year contract worth $1.17 million.
After starting last season with the Houston Texans, Cam Akers was traded to the Minnesota Vikings on October 15th, 2024. In 12 games with the Vikes, he recorded 349 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns.
Still no quarterback decision for the Saints
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore told reporters earlier today that he still has not made a decision as to who will be the team’s starting quarterback for the Week One matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. However, Moore said that he is “pretty close” to making a decision.
“Obviously, quarterback-wise, we’ll communicate that once we’ve talked through that with everyone associated with that decision,” Moore told reporters earlier today. “So, we’ll go through that process in the next little bit, and we’ll communicate that with you guys once the appropriate time reaches it.”
