Bayer Leverkusen’s Arthur appears headed to Paris FC on loan

L’Équipe and Kicker both report that Bayer Leverkusen wingback Arthur may be on the move to Paris FC. The 22-year-old’s Bundesliga outfit wishes to at the very least loan the newly-capped international out this season in order to help him accrue playing time and regain his confidence. Arthur has collected just 35 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen over the last two years due to serious muscle and tendon injuries.

Arthur did not particularly impress for Leverkusen during training camp and was one of a trio of players who simply didn’t work out at the right wingback position during Leverkusen’s Bundesliga opener against Hoffenheim. After the opening day loss, Germany’s red company team have opted to sign Luca Vasquez to fill the role left vacant by the departed Jeremie Frimpong.

Arthur could be the second Bundesliga player to head to the newly promoted Ligue 1 club in the past week. Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp decided to move to Les Parisiens even though he was only promised a back-up role.Speaking on Germany’s famed footballing roundtable Doppelpass recently, B04 sporting director Simon Rolfes insisted that the club didn’t wish to give up on Arthur yet.

A developmental loan out for the youngster – who remains under contract with die Werkself  until 2028 – thus seems probable. Kicker Leverkusen correspondent Stephan an Nocks fully expects a loan for Arthur to be concluded shortly, even if the once-capped Brazilian isn’t ultimately headed to the French capital.
