The release calendar for the last quarter of the year has just seen a major shuffle. The highly anticipated war drama Ikkis, directed by the acclaimed Sriram Raghavan, has been moved from its original release date. The film, which marks the big-screen debut of Agastya Nanda, will no longer release on October 2.
Instead, the makers have locked in a new date, and the film is now set to hit theatres on November 7, 2025. This strategic shift avoids a crowded weekend but sets up an exciting new showdown at the box office. Ikkis will now go head-to-head with Ek Din, the debut film of another star kid, Junaid Khan.
A Strategic Move For A Better Slot
The decision to postpone the film was made by producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. According to a source, the team felt that the post-Diwali period in the first week of November would be an ideal time for a film of this scale. An industry insider also noted that this was a smart move, as the October 2 date was already crowded with two major releases: Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.
By moving to November 7, Ikkis gets a better opportunity to attract audiences. However, it will have to compete for attention with another significant debut, making it a “star kid vs star kid” clash that many will be watching closely.
A Highly Awaited War Drama
Ikkis is one of the most awaited films of the year, largely due to its celebrated director, Sriram Raghavan. The film is based on the inspiring life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, a hero of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, with Agastya Nanda playing the lead role. This will be Agastya’s first theatrical film after his acting debut in the 2023 Netflix movie, The Archies. The film also features a powerful supporting cast, including veteran actor Dharmendra and the versatile Jaideep Ahlawat.
The new challenger, Ek Din, also comes with a strong pedigree. It is produced by Aamir Khan’s Aamir Khan Productions and will mark Junaid Khan’s first major role on the big screen. The film, which also stars the popular Sai Pallavi, is directed by Sunil Pandey and was reportedly shot in the scenic location of Sapporo, Japan.
