Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is facing another spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury.
The 26-year-old Germany international was absent from an open training session at the Emirates on Wednesday, with assessments still ongoing.
The severity of the injury and a potential recovery timeline remain unclear at this stage.
Arsenal are already weighing up options in the transfer market to strengthen their attack, with Havertz’s setback leaving Viktor Gyokeres as the only natural centre-forward available to Mikel Arteta.
Leandro Trossard, who recently signed a new deal, has previously filled in as a striker, while Gabriel Jesus is still recovering from an ACL injury sustained in January.
Havertz had only just returned from a hamstring tear suffered in February, which kept him out of 18 matches across the Premier League and Champions League before featuring in Arsenal’s final two league games of last season.
On Sunday, he replaced Gyokeres in the 1-0 opening-day win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Since joining from Chelsea in 2023, Havertz has made 88 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 29 goals.
Arteta’s side return to Premier League action at home to Leeds United on Saturday, but they may have to do so without one of their key attacking options.
