Atletico Madrid have set their sights on two Manchester United players to address their crisis in attack.

Atletico kick started their La Liga campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Espanyol, leading to question marks over the side’s attacking prowess.

The Madrid giants have spent around €200m this summer, but they still lack a pacey winger capable of dribbling and creating width.

Manchester United duo on Atletico’s radar

According to Fichajes, Diego Simeone has “requested immediate reinforcements” before the end of the transfer window. Interestingly, two United forwards feature on their three-man shortlist.

It is claimed Atletico are interested in Antony, who made a strong impression in La Liga during his loan stint at Real Betis last season. He was directly involved in 14 goals in 26 appearances.

The Brazilian supposedly meets the qualities Simeone wants in his wingers, owing to his quick feet and excellent passing.

United are determined to get rid of Antony and are willing to sell him for around €40m. However, Los Rojiblancos may face competition from Betis, who are viewed as the right winger’s preferred destination.

Atletico are also monitoring Jadon Sancho’s situation, who is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

    Sancho snubs Roma

The Englishman is seen as an “economical option” as he has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at United. The Red Devils are reportedly happy to sell him if their €20m asking price is met.

Further, Atletico admire his versatility, as Sancho can play on both flanks as well as through the middle.

Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Sancho turned down AS Roma’s proposal. United were ready to accept Roma’s bid, but the Serie A giants couldn’t convince the 25-year-old to move to Serie A.

The England international has also decided not to consider a move to Besiktas for the time being.
