After an opening day Bundesliga defeat against Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen continue to work on incoming transfers before Monday’s deadline. Florian Plettenberg reports that die Werkself have submitted an offer of €25m plus add-ons for Al-Qadsiah midfielder Ezequiel Fernández (23).
An agreement between Bayer Leverkusen and Fernández regarding a long-term contract has been reached, with both clubs now locked in negotiations. Should the 23-year-old join, it would leave Robert Andrich, Exequiel Palacios, Aleix Garcia and Fernández competing over two central-midfield positions, although Plettenberg further notes that Garcia could be one to watch before deadline day should the Spaniard express his desire to leave the club.
It was widely reported that Bayer Leverkusen could sign three players for the September 1 deadline and as well as working on a deal to sign Fernández, Simon Rolfes and Co. are close to tying up a deal for former Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez who has already completed a medical.
