Bayer Leverkusen will not sell Piero Hincapié – despite interest from the Premier League

Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayer Leverkusen have decided that they will not sell defender Piero Hincapié despite interest from the Premier League.

After the number of departures this summer, Leverkusen wishes to keep the Ecuadorian and see him as a key piece in their project going forward.

In recent weeks, Hincapié has attracted interest from the Premier League, with both Chelsea and Tottenham at some point linked to the 23-year-old.

With the departure of Jonathan Tah, Hincapié, along with Tapsoba, should be given bigger roles in the Leverkusen backline.  With the Ecuadorian being the only natural left-footed centre-back, Hincapié is also a crucial player to play in what seems to be Erik ten Hag’s favoured three at the back location.

Die Werkself are continuing to improve their backline as they look to complete the signing of Loïc Bade from Sevilla, whilst there has also been tentative interest in Victor Lindelof to bring leadership to a young backline.
