Galatasaray are closing in on the signing of Napoli striker and reported Manchester United target Victor Osimhen.
United are in the market for a new striker, following a goal-shy 2024/25 campaign that saw the club finish a lowly 15th place and with a -10 goal difference.
Rasmus Hojlund endured another difficult season at Old Trafford and there is a growing acceptance that he is not the answer for the side in front of goal. The Dane’s days at United also appear to be very limited, amidst suggestions that Italian clubs are eyeing him.
Having missed out on their top target Liam Delap, who opted for a move to Chelsea instead, United have had to broaden their search, which explains the renewed interest in long-term target Osimhen.
A report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that the Red Devils had opened talks with the player’s camp over a move. Last month, Osimhen rejected a proposed transfer to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, with the Premier League mentioned as his preferred transfer destination.
However, it recently emerged that United did approach Osimhen but he was not willing to budge on his wage demands, making a deal almost impossible to get over the line.
Now, new information has emerged regarding the 26-year-old and it looks like he is set to slip away from United and permanently sign for Galatasaray. He of course spent last season out on loan at Galatasaray after his failed attempt to engineer a move to Chelsea the summer before.
Osimhen struck 35 goals and 40 appearances for the side across all competitions.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Turkish giants are nearing an agreement with Napoli for Osimhen, who is protected by a €75m release clause.
Plettenberg wrote on X, “Understand that an agreement between Galatasaray and Napoli regarding a permanent transfer of Victor Osimhen is now very close.”
“Gala’s feeling with super intermediary George Gardi is that the permanent move will be finalised in the next days.”

Barring a major turn of events occurs, which is never entirely out of the question where Osimhen is concerned, it seems United are set to miss out on the Nigerian’s signature.
