After a week of teasers that sent waves of excitement through their steadfast fandom, Good Charlotte are making their long-awaited return with Motel Du Cap, out Aug. 8 via Atlantic Records — and available for preorder today. Their first album in seven years, the project promises to be the band’s most personal yet — a raw, back-to-basics record that fuses the classic GC sound with new flavor, new characters, and a hefty dose of heartfelt sentimentality.
The first seed to be planted for the Maddens’ return to the studio was inspired by the South of France. While at a friend’s wedding at the legendary Hotel du Cap, the band put on a private performance. Between the intimacy, emotions, and lack of pressure, their spontaneous gig provided just the spark needed for the Maddens to remember why they’d made music in the first place. “It was this wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe,” Joel explains. “We were just there to celebrate, no pressure, and it reminded us why we started this — pure, unfiltered connection.”

The lead single “Rejects” is out now, pairing the band’s signature outsider attitude with a fresh edge. Produced by Jordan Fish and Zakk Cervini, the track arrives with a trippy, Claymates™-animated video that cuts between its clay character’s storyline and a live GC performance.
GC will debut “Rejects” live tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with more performances lined up for Good Morning America and LIV Golf Chicago in August. Their surprise set at Welcome to Rockville last month — featuring a cameo from Wheatus — was just the beginning.
