Florian Plettenberg reports that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim striker Gift Orban is on the verge of being loaned out to Verona. After just half a season with his Bundesliga outfit, the 23-year-old will head to the Serie A this season. Plettenberg claims that Hoffenheim have built a €1m loan fee and a €9m purchase option into the deal.
Orban was known to be negotiating a move away from the Sinsheimers due to the fact that summer squad changes left him lower in the TSG pecking order. The former Olympique Lyon professional only just joined his German club during the January 2025 transfer window on a €9m purchase.
Orban scored four goals in 12 league appearances for Christian Ilzer’s team last spring, but didn’t get his name on the scoresheet beyond the 23rd matchday.
The presence of returning loanee Fisnik Asllani essentially rendered him fully expendable. Orban remains under contract with Hoffenheim until 2029.
