Manchester United defender Leny Yoro produced a top-class performance despite the team being held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham.
United drop points to Fulham
United made their way to Craven Cottage off the back of an opening defeat to Arsenal last weekend.
However, despite losing to the Gunners, there were still a lot of positives to take from the game and optimism remained high that a positive result would follow against Fulham.
United started well against Marco Silva’s men as they dominated possession and created a number of chances, most of which fell to new signing Matheus Cunha. But, they could not find the back of the net and the hosts steadily grew into the game.
Against the run of play, United took the lead just before the hour mark. Bryan Mbeumo’s sumptuous corner-kick delivery was met by Yoro, whose header was deflected home by Rodrigo Muniz.
It appeared like United were on course for their first three points of the season but it was not to be, as the Cottagers pegged them back less than 15 minutes later through substitute Emile Smith Rowe.
Fulham pushed hard for a winner but United stood firm defensively and eventually snatched a point. Several United players failed to deliver but one who did was Yoro.
Yoro stuns at Fulham
Beyond his role in the goal, the other highlight of Yoro’s outing was a brilliant last-ditch tackle to deny Josh King from breaking through on goal, with Bayindir at his mercy.
During the time he was on the pitch, Yoro won 100% of the ground duels he delved into, while also coming out on top in 100% of the tackles he made.
Outstanding on the ball, the Frenchman managed an 88% pass accuracy and touched the ball 53 times.
Six of Yoro’s passes were delivered into the final third, showing that he also looked to get involved in attacking play.
The United youngster also made five clearances.
