Legendary’s upcoming Street Fighter movie is building out a cast that’s as wild as a Shoryuken — and another demented name has joined the fun. David Dastmalchian to join the video game adaptation, which is quickly shaping up to be one of the most stacked and eccentric ensemble films of 2026. Coming off his acclaimed turn in last year’s Last Night with the Devil, Dastmalchian has agreed a deal to play the movie’s main villain, M. Bison — the dictator-like overseer of the tournament and head of the criminal organization Shadaloo.
Dastmalchian is probably best known for his multitude of roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Universe, with parts in all three Ant-Man movies, as well as James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad. He’s also appeared in films as varied as The Dark Knight, Blade Runner 2049, Dune, Oppenheimer and Prisoners.
Raúl Juliá memorably played the role in the 1994 cult classic opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme, but Dastmalchian’s take will likely be darker and more stylized, especially with Twisted Metal director Kitao Sakurai behind the camera. Sakurai is working from a script by Dalan Musson, whose credits include Captain America: Brave New World. The movie is being produced by Capcom and Legendary, with Sony Pictures handling distribution.
What Is ‘Street Fighter’ About?
Street Fighter follows a global fighting competition that pits warriors from all corners of the world against each other — and yes, the cast is just as international and wild as the game. Andrew Koji (Warrior) will star as Ryu, the stoic Ansatsuken master on a journey to test his skills. Noah Centineo plays Ken Masters, his hotheaded American rival and childhood friend. Jason Momoa is reportedly in talks to bring Blanka — the green, electric beast-man — to life, while WWE legend Roman Reigns is set to play Akuma, Ryu and Ken’s terrifying nemesis and their late master Gouken’s younger brother.
Orville Peck, the country singer, is eyeing the role of Vega, a vain and deadly assassin who mixes Spanish bullfighting flair with Japanese ninjutsu. And then there’s Eric André. The Bad Trip and The Eric André Show star is reportedly circling the role of the tournament’s loud-mouthed ring announcer. It’s a reunion with Sakurai, who directed Bad Trip and knows how to unleash André’s wildest instincts. Given the tone of Street Fighter, this part seems tailor-made for him.
