Eintracht Frankfurt attacking prospect Paxten Aaronson’s move to the Colorado Rapids has been officially confirmed. Eintracht head coach Dino Toppmöller already gave the 21-year-old an unofficial farewell at a press conference yesterday. Toppmöller contributed some very kind words and expressed regret that the youngster would no longer be playing in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht were planning with Aaronson ahead of the new season, but were unable to guarantee the New Jersey native adequate playing time due to the competitive situation in midfield. Aaronson did end up scoring his very first goal in Eintracht colors before he left, netting the final goal off the bench in his club’s 0-5 away win against FV Engers in the opening round of the DFB Pokal.

Sport Bild reports that Eintracht have secured a €7m base-transfer-fee for Aaronson. An additional €1.5m in bonuses is tacked on. Aaronson returns to America’s MLS after a two-and-a-half year stint in Europe. Eintracht purchased him from Philadelphia Union for a reported €4.7m just ahead of the January 2023 transfer window.

“Paxten demonstrated his potential both in training camp and his pre-season appearances,” SGE sporting director Timmo Hardung noted in a club statement. “With a view to the 2026 World Cup, he has expressed his desire to continue his professional path with the Colorado Rapids.”
