Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp has officially signed a contract with newly promoted Ligue 1 club Paris FC. The Bundesliga veteran’s new deal with now his second club in the French capital runs until 2028. Eintracht released an emotional statement from their longtime captain, who will be leaving his club of seven seasons in the hands of new SGE skipper Robin Koch and future starting goalkeeper Kaua Santos.

“It’s hard for me to find the right words today,” Trapp’s statement began. “Because I have two feelings to deal with at the same time: Anticipation and sadness. I’m looking forward to a new chapter, but at the same time I’m sad to have to say goodbye to Eintracht for good. I was, am, and will always be an Eagle

”I grew up and matured as a football player and as a person in Frankfurt,” Trapp’s statement continued. “I love Frankfurt, every corner of this club. My club. I am and will always be one of you. We have written chapters that will always connect us. A chapter straight from the heart.

“I’ve now found the perfect moment to try something new, something that excites and challenges me,” Trapp concluded. “Eintracht is in good hands with Kaua Santo He’s a great guy and an outstanding goalkeeper. I don’t have a guilty conscience. Quite the contrary. With him, Eintracht is in an excellent position. A new era is dawning for all of us. I’m sure it will be a great one.”

Born in the Saarland, Trapp actually began his career with 1. FC Kaiserslautern before joining Eintracht in the summer of 2012. After three years with the RheinMainAdler, Trapp moved to PSG. He spent three seasons in Paris before initially returning to Frankfurt on loan during the 2018/19 season, then joined the SGE again permanently the following year.

293 of his 235 German top flight appearances came for Frankfurt.

“It’s hard for all of us to say goodbye to Kevin Trapp,” Eintracht board-member-for-sport Markus Krösche added in his own statement. “For years, he has been one of the faces of Eintracht as captain and a leader. Given his achievements and contributions, it was only natural for us to honor his wish to move on.“
