In a scene reminiscent of that inolving new Wolves signing Amine Adli last week, Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie appears to have bid farewell to his club’s fans. Cameras caught the Ecuadorian centre-back in tears whilst facing the Leverkusen FanKurve after yesterday’s Bundesliga match. The 23-year-old may be headed to the Premier League after all.
Kicker reports that Hincapie may be on the move to one of the EPL sides expressing interest in him this summer. Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been linked with Hincapie. Despite plenty of interest from the Isle, Germany’s red company team were thought to have ruled out a sale.
Kicker now claims that Leverkusen are re-thinking matters after completing the signing of Loïc Badé. Strong training camps from new central defensive additions Axel Tape and Jarell Quansah also render Hincapie expendable. Quansah scored in his Bundesliga debut yesterday.
Die Werkself would naturally still find themselves in need of another central defender and there have been some faint whispers about the notion of former Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji returning to German football.
Kicker confirms that Leverkusen are keeping the current Manchester City professional in mind should Hincapie be sold. Akanji has nevertheless been more strongly lined with clubs such as Galatasaray.
