Like the original Death Stranding, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach features a vast game map to explore, with several optional areas. Many reviews have talked about the game’s stellar graphics, with its dirty tar visuals on the characters looking incredible, and it just so happens that tar pits are key to the area of focus in The Scars Left by the Giants trophy.
To get it, you must arrive at the BT nexus in the F3 crater, which is located near Heartman’s Lab. Reaching the area can seem daunting, but this trophy is surprisingly easy, especially considering it’s a silver one. Many bronze trophies in Death Stranding 2 prove to be harder than The Scars Left by the Giants, but unlike Rare Specimen Rescuer, you can do this trophy in two equally great ways.
Crossing The Tar Pit Is Easier Than It Seems
No Need For A Coffin
Many trophy guides say that the earliest time you can get The Scars Left by the Giants is when you acquire the Coffin Board, allowing you to sail across easily. This is far from the truth, as you can obtain the trophy right away. Specifically, the best early time to get it is when you deliver the first Main Order to Heartman’s Lab.
It’s a bit nerve-wracking as Sam gets very close to sinking, but you should reach the F3 crater using this method.
Just head left towards the edge, coming to the region closest to the F3 crater. Make sure to place a marker on your map, although you shouldn’t take too long, as some users are having overheating problems from Death Stranding 2’s map menu. Equip a Boost Skeleton, make sure Sam has a gun in his cargo, and ride in a Pickup Off-Roader to start your trek across the tar pit. Keep moving forward when in the truck. After you’re booted from the vehicle, continue sprinting, and you should reach the F3 crater.

One Death Stranding 2 Character Makes Me Sad That An Underrated 2015 Game Still Doesn’t Have A Sequel
Death Stranding 2 has an incredible cast of characters, but one is a striking reminder that an underrated game from 2015 never got a sequel.
It’s a bit nerve-wracking as Sam gets very close to sinking, but you should be able to reach the F3 crater using this method. Once you arrive, you’ll need to take out a huge floating BT that’s relatively easy to dispatch. Afterward, get into the tar pit inside the crater to pop the trophy. Unfortunately, there’s nothing inside the crater, not even the very center. You’ll find no spots to fish either, as Death Stranding 2 doesn’t have fishing, a big missed opportunity. Don’t waste your time heading to the center, and reload a past save when you get the trophy.
There’s Another Way That Can Save You Some Time
The Adventurer Brings The Most Convenient Way To Get The Trophy
While you can get The Scars Left by the Giants trophy right away, you may want to consider saving it until far later when you’ll get it automatically. Many facilities in Death Stranding 2 can only be maxed out when you complete its specific Sub Orders. Facilities of this kind include The Fisherman, The Ghost Hunter, and the important facility regarding this trophy, The Adventurer. During the process of completing the final Sub Order required for maxing out The Adventurer, you’ll traverse the F3 crater.

Beat Death Stranding 2? Here’s Everything We Know About Kojima’s Next Games
Death Stranding 2 has proven to be yet another Hideo Kojima masterpiece, and, naturally, those who’ve beaten it are wondering what he’s making next.
Since you must max out all 42 facilities in the game for the Connecting Hearts and Minds trophy, you’ll get The Scars Left by the Giants just by completing The Adventurer. Even though this method is more convenient, you’ll probably get it near the end of your Platinum journey since maxing out all 42 facilities is the longest grind in the game, with The Adventurer likely being one of the last you’ll have to do. Both methods, whether done immediately or saved until the end, are effective in obtaining this silver Death Stranding 2 trophy.
